Monopoly Strategy - Where to Buy the Game

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

Monopoly is such a fun game that we all grow up playing it and generations have passed on the love of the game to their children. Every year millions of new Monopoly games are bought and passed on to new players. It's just become an American tradition.

We want to help people find the best deals on Monopoly. You can browse all the online stores but not every store carries the version of Monopoly you are looking for. And, frankly, you may be thinking "I'll just order it from Amazon" but you may have to pay shipping fees with that order. Did you know that you can buy games from major retailers that have stores in your neighborhood and pick up the merchandise without paying shipping? That's a great savings over time.

So how does this work? We'll begin with a list of stores that we know are selling the game of Monopoly for the Christmas 2015 season. This list may be updated every year to help you stay current.

Best Buy Monopoly Games

Best Buy is well-known for its electronics and gaming sections and you can definitely find some good deals on electronic versions of the Monopoly game here. But you'll be pleased to know that you can also buy the classic board game, too. That is how popular Monopoly is. The game is not stocked in the stores. Instead you buy it from their Website and Best Buy will have it shipped to you. You may be able to qualify for a free shipping deal.

Although this is not as good as in-store pickup they do offer 1-2 day delivery times so you should have plenty of time to order the game for the 2015 Christmas holiday season. But there are probably better deals with the stores listed below. Shop at Best Buy because you find a good price and like the delivery terms.

Fred Meyer Monopoly Games

Fred Meyer is a discount store chain owned by the Kroger Company. Unfortunately for most Americans the Fred Meyer chain is only found in the northwestern United States but people in Portland, Seattle, and other nearby areas enjoy shopping at these huge stores. Browsing the Fred Meyer Website you'll find they offer a few Monopoly games to their customers. You order online and pick up at the store. The selection is not as good as at some other retailers but you'll usually find a good price.

K-Mart and Sears Monopoly Games

K-Mart is still alive and well in America and their Website lists more than a dozen versions of the classic board game. More importantly, the prices on some of the simpler versions were under $15. K-Mart offers in-store pickup and also has free shipping deals. If you live near a K-Mart you may be able to pick up the game the same day that you buy it online.

K-Mart also owns the Sears brand name now. Prices vary by game variation and maybe by store, but if you live closer to a Sears store than a K-Mart you can still take advantage of their great savings deals. The Sears Website also lists more than a dozen variations on the Monopoly game.

Meijer Monopoly Games

Meijer stores are based in Michegan and are found in the midwestern United States such as Illinois, Indiana, Kenucky, and Ohio. This regional hypermarket, like Fred Meyer, is very popular with local area residents. Today there are about 200 Meijer stores.

The Meijer Website lists several versions of the classic Monopoly game for purchase.

Target and Toys'R'Us Monopoly Games

Target is another great discount retailer with large stores in nearly all of the United States' cities. You can easily find the red Target bulls-eye while driving down the road. The Target Website also has a great selection of Monopoly games, several listed under $20 in 2015. You can buy additional accessories for the games, too.

Like other major retailers Target offers in-store pickup and may provide some free shipping opportunities. But unlike other retailers Target also has their special REDcard program. The REDcard is a reloadable debit card that you connect to your bank account. You automatically receive a 5% discount on any purchases for which you pay using the REDcard.

Target also owns Toys'R'Us and you just may be able to find the largest selection of Monopoly games on the Toys'R'Us Website. As with Target you can purchase something online and arrange for in-store pickup. There may also be free shipping options. Although you do not get the 5% savings if you use the REDcard to make purchases from Toys'R'Us, it is accepted by any retailers that accept Visa debit or credit cards.

Wal-Mart Monopoly Games

Wal-mart is the world's largest retailer and you will find their Website has a huge selection of Monopoly games and accessories. You may even find cut-rate pricing on some of their offerings because Wal-mart practices "loss leadership", where they use one popular product to attract customers who eventually buy other products. Pricing on loss leader products may be below what Wal-mart itself pays for the merchandise.

Wal-mart offers in-store pickup and may have some free shipping opportunities. You can find a Wal-mart within 30 minutes of almost every neighborhood in America.
